Arshad Sharif (Urdu: ارشد شریف)(born 22 February 1973) is a Pakistani journalist, writer and photographer. He has worked with leading national and international media organisations.[1] He has received award for his journalistic work.[2][3] Arshad Sharif has recently joined AAJ News as Director News where he will be leading the channel along with starting a current affairs show focusing on investigative stories. He was leading the news team of Dunya TV as Director News and host of program Kyun earlier. Before taking over as Director News of Dunya TV, Arshad Sharif worked as Islamabad Bureau Chief of Dunya TV. Arshad Sharif is an experienced journalist who has worked with leading national and international media organisations in journalistic and management roles. Starting his journalistic career as a freelancer in 1993 while still being a student, Arshad Sharif joined the profession full-time in 1997 and since then has covered a number of stories nationally and internationally. His journalistic forays include conflict coverage intribal areas with specialisation in defence and foreign affairs. He has also reported for leading Pakistani news organisations from London, Paris, Strasbourg and Keil. Arshad Sharif did his MSc in Public Administration from Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad and also has a Masters degree in Media Studies from UK with a distinction as a Chevening scholar.[1]

Sharif was born in Karachi, Pakistan. He began his journalistic career as a freelancer in 1993, while he was still a student. He received his Master of Science in Public Administration from Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad and he has also Masters degree in Media Studies from UK with a distinction as a Chevening scholar.[1][4]
Arshad Sharif, is host of programme Kyun and leading Dunya TV's news team in Islamabad.
Earlier he has headed AAJ News and Dunya TV as Director News. It was under his command that Dunya TV regained its position as the second most watched channel in Pakistan. Before taking over the ratings of the channel were fluctuating rapidly and the management had decided to remove the incumbent Director News and replace him with Arshad.[1] He has worked as a Bureau Chief of Dawn News[5] TV before joining Dunya TV where he also used to host one of the most popular programs in current affairs,Reporter.
His first media job was with a weekly publication, Pulse, where he served as a columnist, reporter and finally as managing editor in 1999.[6] Sharif joined The News in 1999 andDaily Dawn in 2001.

Sharif has covered a number of stories nationally and internationally. His journalistic forays include conflict coverage in tribal areas with specialisation in defence and foreign affairs. He has also reported for leading Pakistani news organisations from London, Paris, Strasbourg and Kiel. Sharif is also the winner of a 2012 Agahi Award.[2][3]
International reporting[edit]
Sharif is one of the few Pakistani journalists who have been reporting not only in Pakistan but also from abroad. He also travelled to France, China, Germany and Bahrain for reporting assignments.
