English Lessons

suitable for students from the age of 10
  • Time: about 10 minutes per round
  • Topic: The students repeat the numbers from 1-100 and the alphabet.
  • Assessment: none (could be performed in a contest)
  • Material:
    • 1 master grid for the game master (teacher or student)
    • 1 grid for each student or group of students)
    • cards with forms of irregular verbs (infinitive, simple past, past participle)

Preparing the game

The teacher explains the rules of the game with the help of a sample grid.

Start the game

The quizmaster picks a card (e.g. the simple past form of did). He/She puts the card onto did on the master grid and says the word did.
The students mark the forms on their grid. The can use a pencil so that the grid can be reused. We have prepared 45 grids for students.

End of the game

If one player has marked all squares in a row - vertically, horzontically, or diagonally – he shouts: ›BINGO‹".
In our example the student has marked the forms drink, had, slept, made and bought.

Tips for the game

Check if the students have marked the words on their grids correctly. You can use the master grid where you can put the drawn forms of the irregular verbs. The students tend to make more mistakes than in the ›nomal‹ Bingo version. So you can easily check the students' grids.
