Swine’s is a formal word for pig. It feeds on waste. It has no instinct to taste and enjoy anything good. So casting pearls or diamonds before swine which doesn’t know their true value is foolish. Among men also there are some who are mean and stubborn like the pigs. They cannot recognize really valuable things in life. Giving precious things to people who cannot appreciate them is like casting pearls before swine.

Distance Lends Enchantment To The View
Things often look beautiful when looked at form a distance. They do not look so beautiful when we get close to them. Distant mountains are very attractive when viewed from afar with lush vegetation and the blue sky a background. The beauty of this enchanting view diminishes as we get closer. Take another look! The lush greenery has disappeared. And the sky too looks far off and dull. This is a strangephenomenon of nature. In life also, many things that look attractive and beautiful often cease to be so at close view. Even person whom you might have found very attractive lose their charm when you become familiar with them. They might reveal many characteristics which you may find undesirable or hateful. Similarly we find many things really attractive only till they come within our grasp. Therefore it is always good to keep a distance with everything and everybody, so that they will retain their charm and attractiveness.
Discretion Is The Better Part Of Valour.
Valour means boldness to face dangers. One who does not face dangers boldly is a coward. But if one foolishly faces danger, risking his life, it cannot be called a praiseworthy act. If he loses his life in the act, there will be nobody to receive praise. We know that lion is a dangerous animal. Going and standing before a wildlion is not bravery. It is foolishness. Using bravery cunningly is real valour. Before braving a danger, we should think and decide upon the safest way to face it. Once we decide on the safest way, we can act boldly. Thoughtless action, even if brave, may bring harm. It is always better to be a wise coward that a brave fool. If an elephant is charging at us, we must not stand on its path and face it bravely. We know that we are unable to overpower the charging elephant bare handed. So the best thing is to run for safety. Once we are safe where the elephant cannot harm us, it is all right to try some of the tactics to bring it under control.
Discontent Is The First Step In Progress.
Greed is always an undesirable thing. But to be ambitious is good. By ambition, it is meant that one should not be contented with the progress he has made in life. He should always long and try for more and more progress. In fact, the world had advanced this much because some people were discontented with the things they had. In the past, people used to walk long distances for their needs. Soon they found that it took up much of their time and energy. So they found an alternative for walking. Thus wheeled carts were devised and carts developed into motor carsin due course. Thus in every field of life true progress has been made by sheer discontentment of some people. This sort of healthy discontentment bears more fruits. The fruits of progress take man’s life nearer and nearer to perfection and happiness.
Desperate Diseases Must Have Desperate Remedies.
For some of the serious diseases, normally common medicine will have no effect at all. They cannot be cured with ordinary medicine. Such grave diseases should be treated with some special medicines. But those medicines, though capable of curing deadly diseases may at times prove to be dangerous. Still, as the situation is desperate for the patient, doctors take the risk of administering those dangerous medicines. Just like this some of the serious problems which pose immediate danger should be tackled with desperate solutions. Such methods or means may be risky. But the problem will get worse if strong remedial measures are not taken. The proverb means that desperate problems must be always offers permanent solutions in spite of the risk it imposes.
Death Is The Great Leveler.
There are different kinds of people among us. There are rich people and poor people. There are good men and bad men. Some may be clever and others foolish. There are happy men and unhappy men. But all these distinctions and specialties last only as long as we are alive. Once we are dead all must certainly crumble to dust. Death has no distinction between the good and the bad - The poor and the rich - the kind and the beggar. Death comes to everyone one day or the other. That is why we are called mortals. In a way, death can called the great leveler as one that levels all distinctions. There is no way by which we can prevent death. All get defeated by death. People run after glory, power and riches without remembering this. They fight over silly little things. A man may be a great fighter. But he is fighter only as long as there is life in him. Once that life leaves him, he is turned to mere dust which everybody tramples on. Death makes all of us equal.
Cut The Cloth According To The Measurements.
If you want to have a coat stitched properly, you should get the cloth cut in the required measurement. If it is a big coat that you need, you should cut the fabric accordingly. In case of a smaller coat, the pieces should also be cut small. In short, you should cut the cloth according to your measurements. That is true in the case of money also. You should balance your income and expenditure in the right way in order to make both ends meet. The expenditure should never exceed the income and the income should never be less that the expenditure. If it is so, you will get into debts and difficulties. A wise man adjusts his expenditure to suit the income although income and expenditure
have entirely different and opposite meanings, they are very closely
related. The proper balancing of the two is actually wise economy. It
will make a person’s day to day routine smooth and secure.
